What does a Duodopa Nurse do at Healthcare at Home?
Conduct training interaction in hospital to ensure patient and/or carer are able to safely self-medicate.
Complete Peg care, clean and clear for medication. Change dressings and provide advice on caring for peg tubes for patients and care givers.
Provide on-going support to patients via telephone calls and home visits.
Provide home pre-assessments prior to hospital admission.
Monitor the patients response to Duodopa dose and report adverse drug events as per protocol.
To educate, train and support patients, carers and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) on Duodopa treatment.
What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?
We are looking for a patient focused NMC registered nurse to work in conjunction with assigned designated hospitals/centres. You will deliver care, education and support to patients and carers with advanced Parkinson’s disease that receive and self-administer Duodopa infusions.
This is a national role providing treatment to patients within their own home therefore it is essential that you hold a valid driving licence. Please be aware overnight stays may be required.
