At Healthcare at Home we are expanding our Pharmacy operation with the addition of a Compounding Unit. As a key part of this function the Compounding Unit Operator will work as part of a team to prepare, assemble and manufacture medical products for use by our valued patients.

Maintain patient and customer confidentiality in all work areas.
Handle basic customer queries (face to face and via telephone) in a polite and professional manner referring where appropriate to relevant members of the production or wider pharmacy team.
Communicate with customers on behalf of department supervisors and managers.
Work in a controlled clean room environment and wear clean room clothing in accordance with local department procedures.
Assemble and document starting materials as specified on batch manufacturing and batch packing records.
Check assembled starting materials in accordance with the requirements as specified on batch manufacturing records and batch packing records.
Disinfect the surfaces of starting materials prior to transfer into clean room areas as required
Manufacture medicinal products as required
Visually inspect finished products
Label and pack finished products ready for final checks and batch release.
Pack released products ready to be dispatched.
Dispatch released product to customers.
Safely dispose of waste materials in line with Trust and department procedures.
Transport and deliver released products to wards and departments as required or appropriate.
Reconcile, pack and send clean room clothing for laundering.
Under the direction of department supervisors and managers ensure adequate stock is available and ordered to ensure the smooth running of the department.
Order and receive stock via the pharmacy computer system.
To receive stock and put away orders.
Identify, investigate and reconcile any stock discrepancies in a timely manner.
Ensure stock is rotated and used in accordance with its expiry
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
Apply and uphold the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice at all times.
To ensure that all department and Trust procedures are adhered to
Ensure that all documentation and records associated with production activities are clear and legible.
Ensure that all procedures are read and understood before undertaking the activity and also any updated procedures are read when issued.
To participate and assist in the training of production staff according to the in house training program
Maintain the working environment in a clean and tidy state. This includes production and supporting areas.
Ensure environmental conditions are monitored by labelling and setting out settle plates as required in accordance with agreed departmental schedules and assisting in other monitoring and validation activities as appropriate.
Ensure all entries on all GMP documents are clearly written and recorded at the time the activity is performed.
Appropriately store and file batch manufacturing and batch packing records in line with department procedures
Under the direction of department supervisors and managers prioritise workload to ensure customer and patient needs and expectations are met.
Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy.
Work to and meet deadlines.
Participate in formal and informal systems that monitor the performance, assess the competence and identify the potential areas for development of Pharmacy Production services.
Participate in the provision of rostered shift working including mornings, evenings, weekend and bank holiday working in accordance with departmental rotas, in order to fulfil contractual obligations and service commitments.
Participate as an appraisee in the departmental individual professional development review and KSF competency processes, supporting and working towards identified objectives and training requirements in order to maintain and continuously develop performance
Undertake annual mandatory training e.g. manual handling, fire, security, basic life support etc.
Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required as agreed with senior staff.
